This gothic revival church is dedicated to Saint Louis, king of France from 1226 to 1270. It was built between 1874 and 1880; its two 58-metre spires are among the tallest in Bordeaux. This year’s event will see around 13,000 joyous runners follow a route of just over 20 km that will take them past some of the most emblematic spots in this beautiful city: the Pont Chaban Delmas, the Pont de Pierre, Place Tourny, Bassins à Flot and the Cité du Vin. The other day I took a ride on the new third secti The other day I took a ride on the new third section of the river shuttle. The shuttle service now runs as follows: 1 Lormont - Cité du Vin - Lormont 2 Les Hangars - Darwin - Quinconces - Stalingrad (and return) 3 Benauge - Bègles - Benauge The third section runs from the pontoon just behind the Café du Port - a bit hard to find the first time! The 20-minute non-stop trip to Bègles provides a chance to admire the emblematic bridges of Bordeaux! The trip starts from the Pont de Pierre, the oldest bridge in Bordeaux, commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1810. It was finally inaugurated in 1822, three months after the death of Napoleon. The boat then passes under the Pont Saint Jean, inaugurated in 1965. It plays a crucial role in Bordeaux’s rail network. The Eiffel Foot Bridge is next, designed by the workshops of Gustave Eiffel. Inaugurated in 1860, the Eiffel Bridge was originally designed as a railway bridge. Next up we have the Pont Simone Veil, Bordeaux’s newest bridge, inaugurated in 2024. With its industrial design and steel construction, this bridge has been designed to provide a public space on the water. And finally, we pass under the Pont François Mitterrand before docking at the port of Bègles. In addition to the bridges, this short river trip also affords great views of many exciting the architectural developments such as the Meca complex and the Arkea Arena. #bordeaux #gironde #aquitaine #frenchtourism #bridges

This beguiling young lady is the nymph of Font d’Audège. Created by local sculptor Louis de Coëffard de Mazerolles in 1865, sits in the shade of several European nettle trees at the Place Charles-Gruet on Rue Fondaudège.
